Michigan: America’s High Five

*** I will be posting pictures of the baby soon. No one yell at me! ***

Now then… I think I may be over this whole California thing. It was great for a while…before my friends started moving away en masse. And before I had a baby and wanted him to grow up with his family around – especially his three adorable cousins. Also, I miss my Michigan friends, those rowdy scamps!.

Plus Michigan is insanely beautiful. Don’t believe me? Check out this website:

(Whenever I’m feeling homesick, I click on all the different photo albums he’s posted…and then I end up feeling way more homesick. But it’s good to see a little bit of home and he’s an awesome photographer)

Anyway, let me clarify – Michigan is insanely beautiful DURING THE SPRING, SUMMER, AND FALL.

Winter: You are an unholy bitch and I despise you!

I’m harassing Shawn these days to try to convince him that a move back to Michigan is where it’s at. He’s not convinced. I’ve got to figure out a way to sweeten this deal for him. Any suggestions? And don’t say sexual favors! My grandma reads this, people! Let’s keep it wholesome!

    a) cost of living is WAY more affordable.
    b) detroit tigers, detroit redwings (there’s also the lions and the pistons, but i want to convince you/shawn to move back, not farther away!)
    c) the seasons. every single change of season swoops in like a breath of fresh air. yes melissa, EVEN winter–when a fresh snow muffles the sounds of the world, and the moon reflects off of the snow like a giant spotlight. jake’ll LOVE it, burrowing and rolling around in the white stuff. :-)
    d) you know michigan, so it’s not like you will be starting from scratch.
    e) it’s his turn ;-)
    f) you’ll be in a WAY better time zone. Anyone who’s anybody, is in the EST
    g) I’M HERE
    h) You know you want too!
    i) (okay, i really don’t know how many of these I have) but Michigan is AWESOME!
    j) Kwame isn’t here anymore!
    k) Mackinac Island!
    l) Canada is only a stones throw away.
    m) there’s still a good chance you’ll be near a large body of water.

    okay… i’m out. I know there’s more… but c’mon…you know you want to!

Those are all GREAT reasons – especially the Kwame one (I know that’s been weighing on Shawn for quite sometime)! :-)

I’ll keep working on him! Wish me luck! And see you in August!
